„Innovations for patients“ - Call for proposals 2025

The Foundation M1 – Munich Medicine Alliance is a foundation under public law based in Munich. In accordance with the resolutions of the Governing Board, the Executive Board of the Foundation announces the following project funding opportunities:

Funding Objective

M1 Flagship Projects address major scientific and medical challenges. If successful, they promise visible, non-incremental innovations for patients. They are intended for established researchers who wish to realize exceptional projects beyond conventional funding formats. In ambition and scope they are similar to DFG Reinhart Koselleck projects.

M1 Translation Groups work experimentally and close to patients. Through the preparation of clinical trials and related formats, they accelerate the translation process with the aim of establishing improved diagnostics and therapies. Testing of research hypotheses using patient samples and data as well as development of biomarkers for personalized therapeutic approaches may also be funded. Translation groups are intended for early/mid-career researchers, clinician scientists, and medical scientists.

Eligibility

Eligible to apply are researchers of the three clusters of M1 partners (LMU Medicine, TUM Medicine, and Helmholtz Munich). Following internal pre-selection, each of the three clusters of partners may submit a maximum of three proposals as lead institution.

All proposals must involve at least one partner from a different cluster of M1 partner institutions.

Topics

Translational research projects, Digital Medicine & AI, clinical trials
